Dig Into the Gardens of Valley Forge Tour
Day One
Morning - Catch a glimpse into the past lives of a historic home and garden at Highlands Mansion & Gardens. Tour this 18th century Georgian home and two-acre formal garden to learn about the history and architecture.
Late Morning - Visit the learning gardens at Landscape Arboretum of Temple University Ambler. This 187-acre campus includes an herb garden, formal gardens, rock wall, woodland garden, wetland garden, trial garden, and greenhouse.
Lunch - Enjoy traditional and novel American cuisine in a 250-year-old building accented by quiet country elegance at Joseph Ambler Inn Restaurant
Afternoon - Choose from one of many workshops and presentations at The Morris Arboretum of the University of Pennsylvania. Topics range from floral and landscape design to horticulture.
Day Two
Morning - Brush up on your gardening skills at the 300-acre “garden of suggestions” at Scott Arboretum, located at Swarthmore College. Take a guided tour, sit in on a lecture, or sign up for a workshop to create or improve your own garden.
Lunch - Have lunch at world famous chef Georges Perrier’s restaurant, Georges’, which features global cuisine with unique presentation and comfortable atmosphere.
Afternoon - Take a leisurely tour through Chanticleer, a pleasure garden featuring tropicals, perennials, colorful cut flowers garden, woodlands, water garden and much more.
Late Afternoon - Stroll the paved walkways that provide vistas of Valley Forge National Historical Park at Jenkins Arboretum. View beautiful woodland planted with thousands of azaleas and rhododendrons.
Dinner - Enjoy oversized prime steaks, live lobsters and fresh seafood accompanied by potatoes, fresh vegetables and salads at Ruth’s Chris Steak House in King of Prussia.
Day Three
Morning - Start your day with a hands-on workshop at the Henry Schmeider Arboretum of Delaware Valley College. Learn how to make floral jewelry, corsages, and boutonnières or take part in a featured presentation.
Afternoon - Tour the 134-acre Bowman’s Hill Wildlife Preserve and learn about over 1,000 native plants of Pennsylvania. Explore woodlands, meadows and Pidcock Creek along an extensive trail system.
Dinner - Enjoy family-style contemporary fare in an eclectic country setting at the Spotted Hog Restaurant in Peddler’s Village, featuring scrumptious pizza, pasta dishes, and grilled entrees.
