As the weather gets colder, the well-loved winter activity of snow skiing becomes widely available in Valley Forge! If you are ready to hit the slopes, check out Fort Washington State Park, Evansburg State Park, Lower Perkiomen Valley Park, Lorimer Park, Spring Mountain, and Green Lane Park. These parks vary in slope size and intensity, offering something for every skill level. The majority of these locations also offer sledding and snowboarding. Green Lane Park uniquely offers ice fishing and ice skating for even more winter fun.

Valley Forge National Historical Park

Visiting the George Washington Monument located in Valley Forge National Historical Park gives you an opportunity to take in the scenic views while delivering into the history of our area. This monument was erected in 1917 to commemorate the resilience and strength shown by General Washington during the six months he and his troops were located in Valley Forge. If you don’t wish to brave the chilly weather, there is an option for a self-guided driving tour of the Valley Forge Historical Park.

Oaks Center Ice

Located on Pennco Road, The Oaks Center Ice welcomes you to enjoy a day in the rink! Whether you're a seasoned skater or a novice looking to learn, Oaks Center Ice offers public skating sessions on a first-come, first-served basis. If you're eager to perfect your skills, they even offer group lessons for both skating and hockey. Beyond the ice, the rink caters to special occasions, with a party room available for rent, making it an ideal spot for celebrating birthdays or creating cherished winter memories with loved ones.

 

Holiday Festivals

Valley Forge comes alive with holiday magic, offering a wealth of festive experiences that bring warmth and joy to the winter season. From enchanting light displays to historical celebrations, Valley Forge invites you to immerse yourself in the spirit of the holidays.

Christmas in Cairnwood

The Cairnwood Estate welcomes you to a guided holiday tour! Explore the Garden House, which features three floors that have been meticulously adorned by professional florists. The estate’s two-story Christmas tree located in the Great Hall makes for a wonderful holiday photo shoot!

 

Skippack Village Illuminare Nights

Every Friday from November 29 to December 20, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., beautiful luminaries will be lit in Skippack Village to mark the beginning of the local holiday festivities. These luminaries will light your path to the Village’s restaurants and shops that will be open late to welcome you. A downloadable walking guide is available on the Village’s website.

 

Elmwood Park Zoo

Step into a magical winter wonderland at Elmwood Park Zoo's Wild Lights. On select nights from November 22 to December 30th, visitors can stroll through the zoo's beautifully illuminated displays, creating a mesmerizing backdrop for your holiday season. But Wild Lights offers more than just lights; it also features live entertainment and the chance to see some of your favorite animals in their nighttime habitat. It's an unforgettable experience for the whole family, combining the enchantment of the holiday season with the wonder of wildlife, making Wild Lights at Elmwood Park Zoo a must-visit during your winter festivities in Valley Forge.

Arnold’s Family Fun Center

 This family attraction is home to over 150,000 square feet of entertainment. Here, families can reserve a bowling lane or attend a monthly documentary movie night for a relaxing evening. For more excitement, check out the go-kart course, black light mini golf, laser tag venues, or the brand new rope course.

 

American Treasure Tour Museum

The American Treasure Tour Museum is a hidden gem that promises an engaging and educational family outing. Open on Fridays through Sundays, this captivating museum showcases an incredible collection of American collectibles and memorabilia, ranging from classic muscle cars to vintage instruments. Located in Pennsburg, PA, this library and heritage center welcomes you and your family to explore the history of the Perkiomen Valley of southeastern Pennsylvania. Displays and information are focused on the history, art, genealogy, and spirituality of this area. Visitors are engaged in the migration and heritage stories of families such as the German Schwenkfelders who found their way to Pennsylvania in the 1700s.

 

John James Audubon Center at Mill Grove

The John James Audubon Center offers families a delightful escape during the winter season. Open from Wednesday through Sunday, this center provides an opportunity for families to explore the legacy of the renowned naturalist John James Audubon. With captivating museum exhibits, scenic trails, and a historic house to discover, visitors can engage in a wide range of immersive experiences. Be sure to visit the WOW Birds! Gallery, where you can peer inside a real bird's nest and discover the fascinating world of avian wonders.
