Guests at this annual party at Elmwood Park Zoo will indulge in the culinary excellence, with tastings from 50 of Montco's best restaurants. Live music and animal encounters have also become cornerstones of this, one of Norristown's premier events.

Norristown's July 4 celebration includes festivities for young and old. For the older crowd, the food trucks and beer garden at Elmwood Park open at 12 noon. For the children, the moon bounce, face painting and free activities start at 1 p.m. For the whole family, Elmwood Park Zoo is offering $4 admission all day, and the party closes with fireworks at dusk.

The only festival where you can share a beer with a bison, Elmwood Park Zoo's Oktoberfest returns this September. This year will be the largest in the event's 10-year history with more than 40 breweries sampling their best beers, wines and ciders. The event also includes games, animal encounters, live music, great food and more.

The annual Native American Day at Norristown Farm Park brings history to life with live demonstrations and displays of Lenape Indian culture. Best of all, the event is free.
